Dr. Jeffrey Paulitzki<\/strong> is the Director of Think Waterloo Psychology. He is a clinical psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario and is a former adjunct Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Waterloo. Although there’s no grey hair (yet!), he has been working in private practice since 2010. His declared areas of competence include providing clinical and counselling psychology services to children, adolescents and adults. Dr. Paulitzki received his training in clinical psychology at the University of Waterloo – one of the top-ranked Ph.D. Clinical Psychology programs in North America. Dr. Paulitzki has published psychological research in scientific journals and has worked in a number of private clinics and hospital settings. Past clinical experiences include working at St. Joseph\u2019s Healthcare (Hamilton), the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH; Toronto), the Health Recovery Clinic (Toronto), and at the University of Waterloo Centre for Mental Health Research. Post-graduate instructional experience includes teaching undergraduate university courses in psychology (i.e. Psychopathology; Research Methods in Personality and Clinical Psychology) at the University of Waterloo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Paulitzki has extensive experience treating first-responders who have experienced occupational-stress injuries while working for police, paramedic, fire-fighting, or nursing services. Dr. Paulitzki works with clients through the Mental Health Program of Care, supporting WSIB claimants with trauma, PTSD, work-related mental stress, and other psychological injuries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although Dr. Paulitzki\u2019s professional activities mainly involve providing clinical services, his research interests have broadly included understanding how we regulate our emotions and how thinking processes influence with how we feel and behave \u2013 including studying how troublesome emotions interfere with what we do, and how old habits can be overcome to help us achieve our long-term goals. Dr. Paulitzki has also been involved as a consultant on research projects with collaborators from the University of Waterloo and the Anxiety, Treatment and Research Centre at St. Joseph\u2019s Healthcare (Hamilton, ON), studying the effects of self-perception on social anxiety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
